Assignment 4__Max

1. Is there a similar area of Taiwan or Korea that is under threat of because of a lack of sustainability planning?
Yes. There are some pollution in Taiwan, like air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and soil pollution. We have planned some methods to deal with these problems by our government.

2. In this article the government, logging Companies, first nations organizations, and environmental organizations are all working together, do you think it is important to involve all these groups when making decisions? Support your answer with an explanation.

I think this sustainable plan for these bears is good, or they will not become extinct.
In addition, I think it is necessary to ask some professors, businessmen and experts to think together. But sometimes, the businessmen will think their profits into this account. I don’t think it is a good idea. However, how to come to the balance between business and protection is very difficult.

3. Do you feel the environment is a problem and we should be working to help preserve it or that governments should be concentrating on economic reform?

3. Yes. Because if they don’t plan together, there will be a lot of conflicts. If the government just focuses on the reform, some people who live there will feel uneasy for them to live and then cause the conflicts.

4. Do you feel the environment is a problem and we should be working to help preserve it or that governments should be concentrating on economic reform?
I really think it is a big problem. Over look the world, some places were flooded by the water; some places were covered by the heavy snow. We can see Japan was hit by the tsunami; some places in Italy were hit by the eruption of the volcano.
We can report factories which release some waste water in the rivers and ask the authorities fine them. Or our government has to force the factories to close, and that can solve the problem of water pollution

  1. 1. I am not aware of sustainability planning in Korea, so I do not know any similar areas as the Great Bear Rainforest in my homeland. However, I believe that there should be at least one place with the protection. One thing I'm sure of is that Korea has a lack of sustainability planning not only because of the environment, but also because some people just don't care.

    2. I strongly believe that it is important to make plans for sustainability in specific areas. For example, the Great bear Rainforest, where very delicate ecosystem lives, needs a lot of sustainability plans. This is because we don't want any animals' species to become extinct because then it'll be our fault; though it actually it. The thing is that humans just wants the amount of damage we cause to be minimal. Other countries also should start sustainability planning; they should at least try.

    3. I think that we should involve all these groups because just one group being responsible for everything would not only have more possibilities to mess up, but more people would protest against the ideas and decisions the group has made. On the other hand, if more groups are working, they'd make wiser decisions because the more people there are, the more ideas there should be. Also, on group working all alone could be too much of responsibility for them, especially if just a group was working on the Great Bear's.

    4. This question seems so obvious to me, but I'll answer it anyway. My answer is that we must preserve the environment more than anything else. We have prospered and developed so fast but it caused economic and environmental problems. Global warming, depression, heavier taxes, increased unemployment are all our concern, but the global warming being the top among them, obviously. The economy dies, we can still survive. The Earth dies, no one survives.
